
Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia, in partnership with the NGO Journalists for Human Rights, and co-organized with the joint Secretariat of the Protocol on Water and Health to the Economic Commission of Europe,of the UN (ONEKE) and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe) held a workshop on Assessment of equal access to water and sanitation and small water supply systems and sanitation in the Republic of Macedonia, in Skopje on 16-17 June 2015.
The Speakers were: The Director of the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia which spoke for the purposes of the workshop; Mr. Oliver Shmol from the WHO / Europe and Ms. Chantal Demilkamp from the ONEKE
The workshop’s goal is to start an exercise of self-assessment of the state of water access and sanitation in terms of equality, by using Points card for equal access, and also to consult national stakeholders on the state of small water supply systems and sanitation in the country. The workshop was held at Hotel Continental in Skopje. The workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate of the Ministry of Health, Agency for Food and Veterinary, Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia, Centres for Public Health, the Embassy of France, Embassy of Switzerland, WHO Office in Skopje, Macedonian Red Cross , ADCOM, Public service for Water supply and Sewerage Skopje, T-mobile, NGOs etc.
The professional part of the workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Mihail Kocubovski, Head of Department of environmental health at the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia. During the workshop it was presented the translated publication “Score card for equal access in support of the political process to achieve the human right to water and sanitation” on Macedonian and Albanian language, and it was distributed to all participants. The electronic version on the Macedonian, Albanian and English will be posted on the website of the Institute.
The workshop was held with the support of the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Women’s Rights in France.
