To mitigate the effects of flooding in several regions of the Republic of Macedonia following the assessment by the Institute of Public Health of the Republic of Macedonia and the public health centers, the residents of 15 flooded cities around the country (Prilep, Bitola, Resen, Ohrid, Kicevo, Demir Hisar, Veles, Negotino, Kavadarci, Kumanovo, Sveti Nikole, Stip, Radovis, Strumica and Kocani) today and in the next days through the distribution network of the Red Cross will get 1,200 hygiene packages for personal use, with a content for a period of 2 months.

The assistance is provided after consultation with the Ministry of Health in relation to the basic needs of vulnerable groups, through a special fund within the budget of UNFPA approved by the Department of humanitarian response.

The aid is intended for the target population of 743 families and citizens who were affected by the floods, or people whose homes were flooded or their residence was isolated, according to the Center for Crisis Management.

Ministry of Health in collaboration with UNFPA and the Red Cross, will continue to monitor the situation in the flooded regions and if necessary will adequately respond for further.
